Artistic Journey in the Perth Hills
Welcome to my creative sanctuary in the heart of the Perth Hills! I've recently moved into a lovely purpose-built studio where I can immerse myself in painting all day, playing with ideas, experimenting with techniques, and focusing on my artistic journey.
Open Studios and Upcoming Exhibitions
Currently, I am busy preparing for the Kalamunda Open Studios, working on several pieces for this exciting event, as well as fulfilling some commissions. Additionally, I'm delving into my exhibition series titled "Beneath the Skin." This series is a deeply personal journey that documents the real-life experiences of patients, practitioners, and families affected by Neuroendocrine Cancer (often referred to as NETS), a lesser-known form of cancer.
Transforming Landscapes
My artistic focus is evolving as I explore new landscapes. The palette of my work has shifted from the earthy reds and greys of the Australian outback to the vibrant colors of garden blooms and the lush greens of the Bickley Valley in Perth, WA. Working with green has proven to be a delightful challenge! The subtle nuances of native Australian greens juxtaposed with the exotic hues of introduced flora create a captivating complexity that I am thoroughly enjoying.
Life Amongst the Wineries
I am fortunate to live amidst the stunning wineries of the Bickley Valley Wine Trail. My husband and I are diving into the world of local wines, tasting and discovering our favorites without the pretentiousness of wine snobs! One of my upcoming pieces for 2025 features Tonon Vineyards on Carmel Road, Carmel. This beautiful winery transforms in autumn, with grapevines changing colors based on their variety. I can already envision another landscape piece inspired by this stunning scenery!
