Mel creates emotionally charged figurative and landscape works that explore vulnerability, inner conflict, and identity.
Her portraits focus on solitary, realistically rendered human figures placed against minimal or symbolically intense surroundings. Through posture, anatomy, and layered marks—whether monochrome shadows, graffiti, or textile-like patterns—she examines the tension between how we feel inside and how the world presses in on us.
Mel’s landscapes are realistically rendered landscapes that are sombre, introspective and quietly intense, focussing on mood and emotion rather than spectacle.
